Chainmail is an ancient technique traditionally used for armor. The interwoven links create flexibility and durability ideal for protection of the body. Instead of focusing only on the kinetic and flexible features of chainmail, I have also fused them into solid forms. Using the basic structure of woven links, these solid fine silver forms create lacelike compositions. Movement in the new forms is created by various manipulations both before and after fusing the chainmail.
About Enameling
The process of enameling metal is an ancient technique. Though there are multiple ways to apply the enamel, I use enamel powder (glass powder) that is heated up with a torch until it fuses the glass to the metal. This adds the splash of color.
